Flying into the Black (R)
Fandom: THE SENTINEL/FIREFLY
Pairing: Jim (Womack)/Blair
Length: 3500 words
Author on LJ: Jane Davitt
Author Website: www.janedavitt.com/index.html
Why this must be read:
Once upon a time, there was a wonderful series called Firefly. A wonderful actor, Richard Burgi, had a character spot for one episode playing Lt. Womack, an evil, nasty, corrupt cop. Now, what if it turns out that Lt. Womack's senses are beginning to really cause him all sorts of problems. Oh, I know! Let's drop Blair into the Firefly universe. Blair is Blair, even if Womack insists of thinking of him as a Shephard. Now imagine how their first meeting might go...
This is a great story, well-imagined and wonderfully funny. Lt. Womack is just as powerless to resist Blair's charms/bossiness as Det. Ellison ever was. This story is very true to the Firefly 'verse while getting the fine line between Lt.Womack and Jim Ellison just right.
And like both The Sentinel and Firefly as TV series, this story leaves you wanting more.

I still can't get over the way Joss got some of Womack's lines past the censor; he did the same with Spike; use English slang and it slips under the radar no matter how rude ::g::
