Why this must be read:
Well if you always wanted to know what was going on in Hutch's mind during this episode, then this story is a must read. This story can be read as Gen, but in the mind of the author it is slash.
Hutch drove his beat-up LTD up one of the canyon roads just outside the city. He was headed west, towards the beach, but he didn't much care about a destination. He just needed some time to think, some time by himself, without Starsky. Without the whirlwind, the overwhelming presence that was Starsky. His partner sometimes had a way of making everything make sense, using twisted pretzel logic and irrational reasoning, that seemed so right when he said it but so wrong later, after Hutch had had some time to reflect. All Starsky had to do was flash that grin, give you one of his bear hugs, and you'd believe that everything was all right. How could it be wrong? Everything was fine. Now let's get a beer, buddy. Yes, that was Starsky. But everything was not fine right now, no matter what his partner said. Hutch could not shake that feeling. He didn’t want to shrug things off. He needed to think.
