Statistic by Em Brunson (R?)

Fandom: CSI
Pairing: none
Author Website: Emland
Why this must be read:

The reason I chose this fic to rec is because it's a prime example of the kind of thing CSI slash writers in particular like to do to Nick. He's easily the most solid, well-adjusted character on the show (well, next to Greg, probably), and therefore he's the one most often chosen to be raked over the emotional coals. Slash writers just love to watch him self-destruct in all the most dramatic ways possible, and this, while one of those high angst fics, happens to be well-written. It's also very indicative of CSI slash, and therefore worth a read.

Warnings: Rapefic. The author doesn't list ratings on her web site, so I stuck a rating on there just as a guideline.

:) Thanks for rating it. It's really great to have it there just as a guideline.

Hee. You and I can bond over our lack of enthusiasm over Gil-slash. But I'll give this one a read. ;)

Nick/Gil

Don't see any myself... I'm a Nick/Warrick gal myself. Un/fortunately there's not alot. Now Gil & Misstress Heather... that I might go for, but Gil & Nick??? Um no...

But Chacun a son gout.

I think one of the major problems with Gil/anybody is that it's hard to write a believable Gil who is madly in love and determined to get his wo/man, and even harder to find one who would be madly in love with Nick. But E. Brunson is a good writer, for all that, and you're doing a good job with the recs. :)

I still cringe over the Gil/Sara, but it had to be done.

With you on that one... Ick...And I agree about the Nick/Gil squick. Gil is very paternal towards Nick, and Gil is really the King of Asexual creatures... Except when he was confused by the serial killer who was a woman posing as a man... Loved that.

Thank you for the recommendation -- I do appreciate it. But I feel a correction might be in order.

"Statistic," while dealing quite substantively with the Gil-Nick friendship, both personal and professional, is actually not slash at all. Granted, the vast majority of my other CSI fiction is most definitely Gil/Nick slash. But this particular one is not.

With all due respect, I am not certain the moderators will comply with a request that comes from a reviewed author. If I were they, I'd probably ask the author of the review before making any changes. It sounds too much like I'm correcting the review, which I'm not -- this is a simple black-and-white matter. If you can take care of this I would be most appreciative.
