Why this must be read:
This is excellent sensory porn, a rich and fascinating exploration.
I love all the little details: the sounds, scents, and sensations extracted from the specific event of My Chemical Romance revisiting their roots at a small club show. The emotions the band attaches to returning to that particular time/space also allows for a return to certain adolescent explorations; it's messy, amorphous, and not so much permanent regression as re-familiarizing themselves with a space they're no longer used to and how it differs from their memories. The main difference here, of course, is an un-anxious threesomes with each other as longtime friends.

So Ray may be rubbing his temples and sighing really obviously every once in a while. So Otter may be pulling his sleeping bag out on the back bench seat and arranging it already for the night. Frank's got two nice, tightly-rolled joints in his wallet and an itch behind his teeth, that burning feeling of wanting to just scream a little bit, maybe be obnoxious in the pit so the delicate scene queens frown and give him his space, so the old guys like him who remember what it used to be like will slam him back with big stupid grins on their faces.
Frank is going to a fucking show.
