Retrovirus by Siubhan (PG)

Fandom: STAR TREK FRANCHISE (VOYAGER)
Pairing: N/A
Author on LJ: don’t know
Author Website: Sadly it’s gone
Why this must be read:
This is a wonderfully compelling story. The author tells a tale about how different people deal with disease. When our favourite pilot, Tom Paris, contracts an AIDS like virus we all learn that the prejudices/differences between Starfleet and the Maquis run deeper then any of the crew suspected. I love this story and I come back to it time and again because I think it really highlights the great things about the characters and shows that the Starfleet way isn’t always the best way.

Someone told me one of my TPM stories had been recced here, and imagine my surprise to see that people are still reading my old Voyager fanfic. I hadn't read this one in years. Man, I had no idea about craft in those days. In this piece, I violate POV right, left, and center, abuse adverbs and said-bookisms most egregiously, use far more exclamation points than should be legal, and we shan't discuss the scarcity of beats and descriptive prose. If nothing else, rereading this gave me a great sense of progress :D
