"The Cat, Selling" by valerienne (Gen, PG-13)

Like almost everyone else, I apologize for being late. Unlike everyone else, I'm ridiculously last-minute, and I'm even more sorry: the month got away from me. On to the fic:

Lotrips (LOTR RPS) as a fandom is carrying on despite the cast dispersal, and even gaining new writers, to our surprised delight. I'm reccing more recent fic, from 2008 on, to show how good we have it now. I'm also trying to give a taste of the variety of writing styles and pairings.

Why this must be read: The Fellowship of the Cast is one thing that makes this fandom tick, and [livejournal.com profile] valerienne illustrates how this works under (self-inflicted) pressure. It's almost, but not quite crack!fic, Dom/Elijah implied, snarky dialog all around, and someone unexpected takes action

There was quiet in the trailer, with all of the Fellowship – well, almost all – crowded inside. The air was heating up, the scent of male bodies, make-up, and wet wool all contributing to a pleasantly warm fug. People looked at each other, no-one really willing to break the sudden silence.

“Look,” said Sean, at last, “You can’t expect anything from Orlando. He’s… flighty.”

“Hey!” said Orlando, pouting. Sean stared at him with his best no-nonsense Sam-like gaze. Orlando stopped pouting, dropped his eyes, and laughed instead. “If you say so, Seanie, I’m not going to argue – anything for a quiet life.”
