Why this must be read:
Because it's in my top five Dief-narrated fics, and because it's hilarious.
Many in due South fandom enjoy writing from Dief's perspective, and the results are often nothing short of outstanding and even innovative in terms of voice and style. I admire anyone who takes on the challenge of writing from Dief's perspective and produces fic this great, mainly because Dief has such a unique role in the show and we only ever "hear" his side of things through Fraser's responses to him. Getting just the right blend of canine and smartass can be difficult, but when it's done well, it's truly impressive.
In conclusion, Dief/PIZZA.
Just as Dief poked his head up over the puffy arm of the sofa, Benton's other boot flew by. A wider margin than the last, but still... unBentonlike behavior coupled with the sudden scent of salt and grease-laden sausage, hot bread and oiled cheese. Dief's mouth began to water.
He eyed NewRay with interest, smelling Benton-and-leather on him where he knelt on the floor, hands wrapped around Benton's lifted ankle. The pale eyes flashed and the moving lips stretched in a wide smile. From Benton came the particular vibrations that meant 'NewRay', more laughter than protest as white-socked feet nearly slipped on the wooden floor.
The PIZZA tilted in Benton's hands.

Also, there's a remix to this fic called Ode to a Sumptuous Supper (The Doggerel Half-Wolferel Remix), and it's actually how I found the original fic. This 100-word ode is so stupidly cool I had to tag it on my delicious page as both "pairing:fraser/kowalski" and "awesome."
