Why this must be read:
I've been exploring in my recs this week scenarios where one agent has to make the choice to leave the other behind in some way. This is another piece in that exploration.
Life has many crossroads and this tale focuses on one of those that some see as inevitable in the partnered agent lives of Napoleon and Illya.
I have to admit here that my personal take on the MFU universe doesn't include this inevitablity as I see the guys as close in age as the actors, a view that does have more basis in canon. However, this take is certainly a valid view, and the writer presents this inevitability so beautifully that I was perfectly willing to forego my personal conception of the MFU universe for the duration of the read.
The story is short, so I don't want to give too much away by providing any more detail or an excerpt. I'll just finalize my rec with a "read and enjoy" (despite... or more because of... any tears that might flow).
