Why this vid kicks ass:

Afraid of Americans is a beautiful match of incredible movie visuals and an awesome, extremely fitting, song by Bowie. Everything about this vid works together to deliver its message with a power-packed punch. The vidder has deployed incredible editing skills (watch the way she uses speed and timing in general) with a very keen sense of a major theme in the book and film: human fallibility and the dark motivations that may drive people ostensibly working for the good of society, represented by costumed vigilantes. The visuals are woven with the music creating a mood of mounting hysteria, anger and fear surrounding a strong narrative line as each of the characters demonstrate why we should, indeed, be afraid:

Johnny's in America
Johnny looks up at the stars
Johnny combs his hair and
Johnny wants pussy in cars
Johnny's in America, uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh
Johnny's in America, uh-uh-uh uh, uh, uh-uh uh-uh-uh

(repeat chorus)

God is an American
God is an American...
