Because this is another cracky premise made gold: Dan buys the Watchmen action figures and shows them to Rorschach. This is fandom Dan at his best: geeking out over the Watchmen action figures, fighting his way through Christmas shoppers at FAO Schwartz and teasing some humanity out of his stoic partner. Littered through this story are little gems of observation and fond humor:

“Kyaaaaa! Take that, bad guys!” the boy shouted, making the Ozymandias figure spin-kick the Nite Owl and Rorschach across his lap. Then for good measure his arm swept them onto the floor of the train car. Mini-Nite Owl and Rorschach lay motionless in sad plastic defeat. “Ozy wins!”
