Why this must be read: I love this particular story because it's effortlessly in tune with the relationship between Lorelai and her routine. She's a frequent patron of Luke's diner, she has a regular shtick with him, and Lorelai is filled with a number of endearing quirks. The entire town is very aware of all this and when Lorelai is forced with the unenviable decision of where to relocate once she and Luke break up, it creates an unbalance. Try as she might she can't quite find her equilibrium. Cadence Daly does a wonderful job of capturing Lorelai in all her adorable quirkiness. It's in no way difficult to see Lorelai passing her time in the exact way 


She started bringing in her day-planner and opening it up on the table in front of her, flipping pages back and forth, pretending to consult her schedule and make notes as she ate and drank.

Tuesday — Staff merit reviews; Wednesday — 2:30, teleconference w/ field engineer re: pond drainage; Friday — 6:30, dinner w/Rory @ Yale

But the pathetic little bits and pieces of her workaday life couldn’t be stretched to fill the time she needed to look busy, so she began filling the date book with make-believe events.

Monday — 10:00-11:30, photo shoot w/Annie Leibowitz, (fringed western shirt, denim skirt, cowboy boots); Wednesday - lunch with Clooney, don’t forget to pick up his tux from the cleaners; Thursday — 2:00, meet with Bono to pick songs for new album (look hot); Thursday — 8:00, Greenpeace Awards dinner (have speech ready in case they ask)

It was fun, for a while.
