Hello, My Name Is... By Carabele

 Fandom: The Man From UNCLE
Pairings: none
Length: 14,100
Author on LJ: Carabele
Author Website:Carabele Fanfiction Page

Why this must be read:
This was one of the first stories I read last year when I first discovered fanfiction. I have re-read it more than once since then, and will probably read it again in the months and years to come. Carabele is a Napoleon girl, unabashedly maintaining the profile of the CEA just as we saw him, plus a few traits reserved for the truly noble and brave. Illya is also true to the episodic accounts; honest and vigilant, not easily derailed from his objectives.
After returning from a mission in which Solo has been injured, the medical staff refuse to let his partner speak with him.  When he finally is allowed in the room, he is shocked and dismayed at the nature of his friend's trauma.  What is the cause?  More importantly, what is the cure?
For the answers, Napoleon and Illya venture into deep waters, emotionally speaking and aboard the Pursang, a vessel rich in MFU lore and speculation. It will become a meeting place, a venue for the two men to examine their lives, their friendship and the dividing line between Napoleon's peculiar amnesia and the path back to his real life. He has lost knowledge of himself, and Illya's quest to bring him back whole and unhindered is the center of this story.
Deep conversations, deeper misgivings from Napoleon, and the determined and loving concern of his friend make this story a cerebral journey into what and who these men are.
I hope you'll enjoy sailing with them.

Wow, what a truly excellent, insightful story! And what a wonderfully detailed backstory she's given Napolean, all of it sounding completely authentic. Thank you so much for reccing this story and this author. I loved the series but I'm not very familiar with its fanfic. I've bookmarked this author, to go back and read all of her work. If you have other authors you'd recommend, I'd appreciate having their names and urls.
