What You See Is What You Get (If You're Looking Hard Enough) by Sixthlight (PG-13)

Pairing: AU, mostly gen, some light Jane/Lisbon

Why this must be read: One word: steampunk.
Sixthlight has done an amazing job in this fic building an alternate universe that is completely engrossing and fascinating and intriguing and all sorts of other good adjectives. AND, if that wasn't enough, the author included a superb mystery and stayed true to the characters we know and love while fitting them perfectly into a steampunk/fantasy 'verse.
It's honestly one of the best Mentalist fics out there, and I highly encourage everyone (familiar with the show or not) to give it a read.
