Why this must be read:
Author’s summary: "You think they've been keeping Jim for twelve hours by asking politely?"
Come for the premise, stay for the execution: Spock and McCoy go on a mission to rescue Jim from capture on an alien planet, and_seven_crows takes a well-used plot and makes it her own. The spot-on Spock/McCoy banter is a treat, as are the action scenes, which hold my attention like not many action scenes do. I particularly like how _seven_crows writes Spock, who gets to show off both his command and fighting skills here. This is one of those fics that I can read over and over again without ever getting bored.
