No Storms Come by Ashkevran-Angel (approx PG)
Hmm, this tour is venturing farther afield than I realized. Another foray beyond the city limits, but well worth the extra miles.
Fandom: STARSKY AND HUTCH
Pairing: none
Length: 4,838 words
Author on LJ:
Author Website: Ashkevran-Angel at the Starsky and Hutch Archive
Why this must be read:
In the wake of Starsky’s Lady, Hutch takes Starsky away from the city to an isolated cabin up North, in the hopes that his mourning partner can find some peace there. But peace is hard to come by for both men, as the grief over Terri’s death brings with it other, even more painful emotions. Angel uses beautiful, evocative imagery even as she wrings you out with yummy and oh so angsty passages like this one:
The roar of crashing waves was a feral siren’s song, haunting, deceiving, melodic – calling and lifting with demonic force to crash and tumble in monochromatic freefall.
Hutch listened to a refrain rise from the water and echo across mountains and clouds to the horizon. The chilling breeze amplified the water’s voice, until, to him, it became Starsky’s anthem, his forlorn cry of anguish.
It was too hurtful for words, too deep for tears.
Return to me - Return to me - Return to me
Oh, gah. Go see how it all plays out!
