By now, you may have deduced that your driver has something of a weakness for angsty, H/C, and post-Sweet Revenge fic. Stories that combine all three, and do it well? Golden. And Izzie has it going on all cylinders here, with a plot line that is completely plausible and characterizations that are spot-on.

Then his eye was caught by a crumpled form huddled against the wall. The leather jacket, the blue and white sneakers, the stillness of the dark head—he had seen this before, less than two years ago. All that was missing was the Torino sheltering the motionless body, and the presence of many cops, shouting and milling around.

It was as if the world around him had stopped, caught in a moment of time so horrible that nothing could continue as before. Somehow, he forced one leg off the ground and pushed it numbly forward. Then the other. His body had forgotten how to walk; it took all his concentration to get it to co-operate, to move him across to the place he most wanted to be, and yet most dreaded reaching. His legs gave out as he reached his destination, saving him from having to work out how to kneel down by simply dropping him to the ground.
