My apologies for posting my last rec late today, we had some access issues last night :) Thanks for letting me share my strange and specific tastes with you this month, it was a lot of fun to pay homage to some incredible writers (and a podficcer) in our fantastic fandom! ♥

Why this must be read: Group sex fic is pretty outrageous, on principle. And fic wherein the characters read fanfiction is not only outrageous but frequently embarrassing too. And yet!reni_days, one of the sharpest and most witty writers in our fandom, took both of these things on and somehow made it believable, hilarious, self-deprecating, and actually really sexy.

crack_van with a rec for the story that you might not think could ever work but has ended up being one of my absolute favourite things to read in bandom, and gets better every time I re-read it. Trust me when I say I am the first person to get squeamish about stories that describe band members encountering fandom - so I am constantly amazed at just how perfectly it's pulled off in this fic. It really, really shouldn't be missed!

He hastily closes his internet browser, and both of the open Word documents.
"Well?" Spencer demands, when Ryan doesn't say anything.
"Well, what?" Ryan tries to act like he has no idea what Spencer is upset about, but Spencer can most likely see through it. Years of friendship have forged kind of a special connection between—
Oh, motherfuck. Now even his brain-voice is doing it. That is it, seriously. He's totally quitting the fanfic. For real, this time.
"Well," Spencer says bitchily, "where the fuck have you been for the last five days, and why do you appear to have given up showering, and also, is that a lifestyle choice you are going to expect us to support on the bus? Because I think you should know I am vetoing that right the fuck now."
Ryan looks away, guilty and uncomfortable. "I've just been busy," he says, and then, when Spencer rightfully eyes his pyjamas with open suspicion, amends it to, "Not feeling very good. You know."
