Modus Operandi by Bronwynferchdai (Rating: R)

Fandom: DONALD STRACHEY MYSTERIES
Pairing Donald Strachey/Timothy Callahan
Length: About 12,000 words in four parts

Author's website: none of which I'm aware, but here's her fic masterlist

Why this fic must be read: I'd advise a careful reading of all Bronwyn's fics. But this one — this one is an orgy of hurt/comfort, terrifying, painful and real. Bronwyn is a master at building mood and getting the reader right into the action. My heart was pounding the entire time I read this thriller, and believe me, it didn't take long!

Donald and the police arrive at his house:

Blood was everywhere. It spattered across the big mirror which lay shattered across the floor in huge jagged shards. Little slivers of glass crunched underfoot as Donald turned. Water poured from the tub faucet, but the drain was open and syringes bobbed in the few inches of water that had collected in the bottom. A puddle of vomit spread slowly just right of the door. …

“We’re too late,” he murmured. He swayed a little, spots dancing at the edges of his vision.

Great rec! If this story were in print, we'd call it a page-turner -- plus it's one of the yummiest h/c fests I've ever read.

Bronwyn also wrote a sequel/sister fic -- an uber-dark AU version of this story where things don't go so well for Donald and Timmy. It's called "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep" and I'm including the link here...

... for those who also love dark fic with edge as much as I do. The story's excellent -- powerful and wrenching and absolutely heartbreaking and definitely NOT for the faint-hearted. The author says she cried the whole time she was writing it. I believe it.

Is this based on the book-verse or the movie-verse?

Either way, sounds good.

It's movieverse. Very, very, very movieverse!
