Why this must be read: if football RPF can be said to have an OTP, it's Stevie/Xabi. When they've both retired, I suspect we'll still be reading new stories about their tragic fated love. This fic gets that, gets the whole tragic fated thing, and it's also fantastically funny in a sort of bittersweet way and really just a wonderful read.
