Author's Summary:It is July in New New York, 099: the dawning of the latest and greatest era of beauty, freedom, truth and love, but mostly love. And when it comes to Rose Tyler and Jack Harkness, a lot of beauty. John Smith is so hopelessly in love with his two best friends that sometimes he thinks he could just about explode. But he's no one special. Not really.
Why this must be read: This is one of the best fics in the fandom. It's also damn hard to describe. It is told in a surreal, sometimes fragmented style that nevertheless manages to create and incredibly dense and detailed world. The prose is sharp – sometimes so sharp it cuts. The characters and their emotions are so alive and so real that I can't help getting completely sucked in every time I read it. And the ending is at once hopeful and heartbreaking.
Well, You Know
P.S.: As an added point of interest, the author posted a short prequel and two mini-sequels in this meme response. (None of them will make sense unless you read the fic first.)
