My 2,000 Year Diary by Rory Williams (Plastic) by Al B Dickerson
Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Characters: Rory
Length: long
Author on LJ: none known
Author Website: none known
Why this must be read:
This fic was written as part of the Companion Chronicles Prose Series. (The further adventures of the Doctor, in which various of his companions relate a series of first-person narratives. Concept derived from Big Finish Productions' Companion Chronicles series of audio plays, which are in turn based on the BBC's long-running British science-fiction television series Doctor Who.)
There have been several stories about what happened to Rory during the 2,000 years he was a plastic Roman Centurion guarding the Pandorica inside which his beloved Amy was being preserved. This is the most intricate, involved, and off-the-wall one that I know of, and therefore my favorite, which is why I rec it. I love the way we see the ways in which history is the same and yet different, and the stages of thought through which Rory passed. He didn't just stay the same all two thousand years; he was still Rory, and yet the events he lived through and the things he did affected him, as they would any living creature. I can't post a snippet because it's a PDF so I can't copy-paste. But trust me, it's good. It starts off slow, but things snowball from there.

(If anyone knows anything about the author, i.e. where to find more fic, let me know, because googling is only turning up the CCPS website.)
