Hello! I'll be taking a second turn at reccing for Watchmen this month! Last time I recced I went through my list of favorites and pulled out ones that, for the most part, weren't too AU or too smutty and had a good range of characters & pairings. I...likely won't stick to those same guidelines this time, so expect AUs and kinkmeme fics and lots of Dan/Rorschach. Starting with this rec :D

Why this must be read:

After being very badly injured Dan ends up with a full-body robotic makeover. Robo-Dan is awesome - the descriptions of his new self paint a very cool picture - but this fics takes a bittersweet look at the idea of a machine slowly taking the place of a person. It plays off the idea that Dan is Rorschach's only friend very well; Rorschach's desperation to keep his partner human is both tragic and touching. With a lovely side of robo-sex!

The friendly chatter stopped. The creative inventing stopped. Too often, he said and did exactly no more than was required. It had disturbed Rorschach, to see his partner go from passionate for their cause to a barely responsive observer. The thought of losing Nite Owl to the same dispassionate logic as Dr. Manhattan had grated. What was the point of him living, surviving, if the part that mattered withered away inside the shell? He had tried to explain that and they had ended up arguing.
