Why this must be read: Audacious and deft, this story grew out of a "five things that never happened" scenario. While the characterization is argueably beyond the pale of canon, the relationship between John and DK is compelling and presented so skillfully that it catches the reader up. Even one, like myself, who has an irrational dislike of DK. I re-read fic very rarely, and this is one of the select favorites I've come back to enjoy repeatedly.
