Why this must be read: I'll admit to being biased about this fic -- it was written for me in last year's happy_trekmas exchange -- but it is also an example of everything that is good about the mirror!verse. oparu's Chapel is determined to survive, to get what she wants, and to trust in something, no matter how dangerous that might be.

Brushing her thumb across his lips, Christine pulls her dagger from her waist and holds it up to him before setting it aside.

He stares at her, eyes wide, then he sees the gesture of peace for what it is. McCoy’s less graceful with his own weapon, simply letting it drop to the floor along with the sash that held it.

“You think I’m good?”

She whispers his reply in his ear. “I’m counting on it.”
