Dead Guys Don't Always Finish Last by exbex
Fandom: DUE SOUTH (with Wristcutters: A Love Story)
Pairing: Renfield Turnbull/Ray Vecchio
Length: 2500 words

Author Website: On Ao3
Why this must be read: Besides masterfully showing us an unfortunately underrated pairing, exbex takes the canon of Wristcutters and shows the reader a portrait of the afterlife that's different from anything you've seen before. Ray Vecchio and Renfield Turnbull meet after their seperate -- but not dissimilar or entirely unlinked -- ends and even in a world where it seems all of the afterlife has been reduced to shades of gray and in a pale imitation of living, somewhere in all that, they manage to find a tiny spark. A must-read for anyone who loves a good story where the underdogs get their chance.
