Back in the Saddle by Kaye Austen Michaels (NC-17)
Hello again, fellow S&H June travelers! I'm rounding the final curve here, finishing up my month of driving. See that glow down below and around the bend? Those are the lights of Bay City, beckoning us to the end of our road trip. This was my first turn at the wheel here, and it's been such a pleasure and honor to share some of my favorites with all of you. When you disembark, please be careful, watch out for each other, and look both ways before you cross the street. :-)
Fandom: STARSKY & HUTCH
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch
Length: 9,000 words
Author on LJ: smudley
Author's Website: http://www.starskyhutcharchive.net/viewuser.php?uid=16
Why this must be read: It is impossible to convey how dear this story is to my heart. Set in the immediate time period after "A Long Walk Down a Short Dirt Road" - after Hutch stammers through performance stage fright - we find the boys at a bit of loggerheads. Hutch is embarrassed and shutting down, Starsky is doubtful and dueling with strong feelings for his partner. And then off they go into another adventure. The journey is, quite simply, romantic and tender and beautiful. Our talented author - a beloved figure in our fandom - finds a very creative way to hurt Hutch (yay!) and then takes us along as the boys work their way through misunderstandings to new places. The ending is surprising - insightful - and the love is like the brush of a summer breeze on your skin. For me, love defines so much about these boys. If you want a story to delight and enchant...along with scrumptious language and descriptions...it's right here. Please - take a look, have a read. I promise - it will be a magical experience!
