MARVEL (X-MEN FIRST CLASS)/HARRY POTTER (R)

First of all I want to apologize for a late start to the Comics van this month, but hopefully I'll be able to make up for lost time!   While in recent years I've definitely leaned towards reading more Marvel, I have a fondness for DC.  Either way expect a variety of characters/comics.

Title: The Better Men by TurtleTotem
Pairing: Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier
Length: 77,963 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] turtletotem
Author Website: AO3
Why this must be read:

For the amazingly seamless way the characters of X-Men:First Class are placed within the setting of Harry Potter 'verse.

Summary: "I do believe the two of you were in the same year as boys, were you not?" Headmaster Shaw said. "Charles is the most competent deputy any headmaster could ask for, Erik, and he's been doing this for years…" He trailed off, as if finally noticing something odd in the way his Potions and Divination masters were staring at each other.

"Of course," Charles said quickly, his voice only a little hoarse, and stuck out his hand. "Welcome back to Hogwarts, Erik."

I generally don't read crossovers especially ones set in HP 'verse (and technically this is a Harry Potter AU with X-Men First Class characters), but I'm glad I did.  It takes great skill to be able to figure out what canon needs to be adapted and what should be kept, and turtletotem does an amazing job interweaving XMFC canon into characterization that is believable in a HP setting.  The character voices are well-written and there some great parallels to the original characterizations both in regards to XMFC but also in dealing with Harry Potter canon.  If you like your stories wonderfully paced, engaging with a strong plot full of magic and intrigue and a well-developed romance between Charles and Erik within the castle walls of Hogwarts then give this a shot!
