A Pox on It, by Janice R. Sager, Rating, Gen
Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Characters: Benton Fraser, Ray Vecchio, Francesca Vecchio, Inspector Thatcher
Length: novel length
Author Website:http://www.zianet.com/jsager/myficA.html
Why this must be read: A those of you who know me may have realised, I'm going through a Ray Vecchio phase at the moment. This particular fic is one of my favourites in the friendship genre... In it Fraser is taken ill, and as things take a markedly serious turn not just Ray but all the Vecchios rally around him, and do everything they can to help. I love stories in which Fraser is accepted into the Vecchio family as an adopted son, and this is one of the most compelling. As with all things, I could nitpick (I'm not at all fond of Thatcher, though if she had been consistently shown in the series as she is here, then I would certainly get on with her better.) But this features a strong dS vibe, in the style of the early seasons, dead!Bob (always entertaining) extended scenes in the Borderlands, and some serious angst, happily resolved at the end.
