Why this must be read:
"Parker," Nathan says in greeting as she comes up beside him, shoving her hair behind her ears and squinting down at the rocks by the pier. They've got the floodlights on, silhouetting the scene in long, deep shadows.
"What have we got?" she asks, no-nonsense and on point, as always.
"You're going to love this," he assures her, and she cocks an eyebrow at him, clearly intrigued. "Go on. What weird mythological creature haven't we covered yet?"
Starting off a month of Haven and trying to sell more people on the show/fic, here is one of the most popular with the OT3 according to AO3. No surprise that it's this one.
Cold Light is a case-fic that could fit right in with the actual show, while developing, building up, and paying off on a great Audrey/Nathan/Duke dynamic.
All the characters are perfect in their actions and interactions. Nathan is thoughtlessly heroic and self contained, Duke is snarky and does a good job at hiding his insecurities, and Audrey takes charge and cuts through everyone’s halfhearted attempts at covering things up. The actual plot drama is a bit of fun as well.
Has a porny sequel for those of you that are interested.
