DUKE: Audrey come on, don't you just look around this madhouse sometimes and think, "I gotta grab the first flight out of here. Go to some secret island where nobody does anything, wears anything. Nobody turns into anything unnatural.

Last time was the innocent sweetness of Nathan/Audrey. Here's some Duke/Audrey.
No real spoilers except for what the arc of season 3 is. Not like the actual story line, just like the setup of 'X might happen at the end of the season!' where X is kind of like fate/destiny, and some people refuse to let go of their ability to make choices.
Maybe there’s something to be said for running away.
Duke and Audrey have a dynamic on the show where (when there isn't terrible drama) they tend to loosen up and get comfortable around each other. And sometimes they make vague references to emotions and inner turmoil to each other unlike some relationships on this show and others where everyone just clamps right down on everything. They fell into being laughy giggly friends and are pretty supportive of each other.
The relationship that's on this display in this fic is absolutely gorgeous. Two people get out of a tense, toxic situation and maybe the world seems like sunshine again.
