Blue Eyes by Thea (NC-17)

Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: John/Aeryn
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] thassalia
Author's Website: Unknown

Why this must be read:

This is a long, sprawling epic that will have you staying up until all hours of the night trying to just read one more paragraph, which will turn into one more page, which will turn into ten more pages.  It's addicting and enormous in scope, coming from a simple "what if?" question and building a world, building characters that are alive, sharp, and deep.

In the second season, the Look at the Princess trilogy saw John married to a princess for a short time before leaving.  Thea's fic postulates that John didn't leave.  That he remained on the Royal Planet and left the crew of Moya behind.

What happens next?  Lots of things.  And I'm not going to tell any of them.  Needless to say, I cried several times, whooped several times, and did an odd mixture of crying and whooping several times.  It's an affecting piece, an ensemble piece, giving every character something to do.

Thea writes every character exceptionally, but her strength is her Aeryn characterization.  Those who write Farscape know she can be one of the toughest characters to write because you never know what's going on inside her head.  Here, Thea takes you there, lets you see the bits and pieces that Aeryn is made of, makes your heart hurt with the emotions she's feeling.  I think this might be the strongest Aeryn characterization I've seen since KodiakkeMax's Aeryn in In the Company of Ghosts.

Clear your schedule, have a cold drink close at hand and comfortable chair.  It's well worth it.

I didn't rec this one last month because I knew we had a good line-up of reccers through the fall and didn't want to cherrypick the big luscious stories before anybody else had a chance to pimp. I knew I could count on you guys 8 )

Yay! It's up!

So, I never really got into Farscape fandom - I was all there for the show itself, but not really into the rest of it. I've been reading the recs this month, because I'm starting to get excited about the mini series, and I just lost my afternoon to this. I'm supposed to be working on my thesis!

but thankyou for the rec. This was a fantastic read. And I wanted to mention that I've actually been enjoying most of the fics you've recced this month, so, uhm, yay you?
