Why this must be read: It's weird to realize how much Spanish Armada fic there is... but how little of it pairs the two highest ranked Spaniards even though Rafa and David are good friends in real life. This year, there's been more interest in this pairing since David has been, at times, the #1 Spaniard even though everyone still fears Rafa (he missed seven months). Unfortunately, that fear does extend to David himself, as he's had some notable issues when facing members of the Big Four... and Rafa specifically. Even someone as nice as Rafa has to get to the point of saying "enough is enough" regarding these doubts, which is the idea of this fic. Rafa is sick and tired of David's attitude when it comes to their matches. Or, as the summary itself goes: David had the bizarre feeling that the match was somehow not over. He wondered if he should reach for his racket. Not that having a racket in his hand had ever done him much good against Rafa.

This is the first fic of an ongoing series, all based on matches Nadal and Ferrer have played this year, but this fic works just fine on its own.
