It's a short and straight-forward story, set just before Ray steps into his role undercover.  It's a fulfillment of the hopelessly romantic premise of that episode, one last real, meaningful moment of connection between the two of them, that moment of beating the odds that Ray talks about at the end of the episode.  It's wonderfully bittersweet.
