O'Leary's Hotel by J Hardin
Hey, all, I'm
doodlesinsand, aka Mission, and I'll be driving the due South van this month! Like some of you, I'm sure, I vaguely knew due South as a child and have since returned to it and fallen in love with it all over again. I've been reading fic for quite awhile but only recently became anything you would call "active" in the dS fandom (mainly on tumblr).
I've got some pretty big shoes to fill and I'll try to get a good mix of older and newer fic, but if you have any friendly advice feel free to drop me a message.
Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Benton Fraser/Ray Kowalski
Length: 17,266 words
Author Website: http://www.squidge.org/dsa/cgi-bin/search.cgi?Author=J%20Hardin&SortBy=3&SortOrder=1&NumToList=0
Why this must be read: This fic takes the magical realism of due South and runs with it, carefully twisting it into actual fantasy without ever abandoning the Chicago that due South is set in. It fits in wonderfully with the mythology of the show, dialing the fairytale elements of due South up to eleven and yet still somehow staying very true to the characters as they are.I wouldn't technically call this a crossover, but in some ways it feels as though it is one, because the OCs are so well crafted and their backstories are so well thought-out. KellieM has informed me that this is, in fact, a crossover. Sorry for the confusion!
