Why this must be read: I'm sorry I haven't posted lately but my sister had a baby and I was busy with that. Then I had to come back to my life and catch on schoolwork. Anyway, in celebration I am reccing mpreg/kid!fic!
The A/B/O fics have gained a lot of popularity and this is just one of many but I really enjoyed it. I am a fan of mpreg and kid!fics, but I’m kind of picky, so this was a fic that I had to try. I was not disappointed, it is well written and I feel the kid is fairly believable as a kid and not just a small adult. As a child of Sherlock he is given more intellect than is normally seen but it is understandable (in a fangirl way ;-) ). I like to see how fic writers change things from canon when they can. How do things change when Sherlock has a child he looks out for? Find out! The mpreg part does not last long so if you like kid!fic but not mpreg give it a try!

So I've read a few ABO fics, and one thing I'm confused about is what does fe/male gender even mean in ABO universes? I mean, if Omegas can get pregnant and Alphas can impregnate them, wouldn't that by definition mean Omegas are biologically female and Alphas are biologically male? I could see it if fe/male (and pronouns s/he) were just social definitions or roles, but then you do have Omegas with what we (the "real" world) thinks of as male anatomy, and Alphas with female anatomy. (For example, I read an Inception ABO fic where Mal was the Alpha and Dom the Omega and pregnant at the time, and in the same fic Arthur was Omega and he was definitely described as having male genitalia.)

And meanwhile, congrats to your sister! IMO RL comes before fandom. :)

I was very hesitant about A/B/O fics but one description really fascinated me so I tried it. But trying to rationalize the alpha, beta, and omega genders with male and female makes my head spin! I've had to really suspend my disbelief but once I did I was able to enjoy some good fics! Mostly it seems to be a way for characters to experience kinky sex but some are exploring what would be taboo for that universe or how they can be outstanding while accepting who they are. They can be interesting reads. :-)
