Why this must be read:
There are two stories in this series. The first takes place pre-Shards of Honor in the Vorkosigan universe, so no Cordelia and a different sort of Aral Vorkosigan, and post-"Children of Earth" in the Torchwood canon. It is utterly delightful! A one-night-stand with a mysterious stranger who keeps his heart in a little blue box and thus cannot die. Perfect!
The second story is no less perfect. The Doctor and Amy Pond come to Barrayar, and Aral Vorkosigan knows who they must be. This is set between Barrayar and The Warrior's Apprentice with a young Miles in the mix along with a perfect Cordelia, and around "Vincent and the Doctor" in the Doctor Who canon (meaning Amy has forgotten that Rory ever existed).
