Why this must be read: It hurts like a bitch, but you'll thank the author afterward.

Continuing yesterday's theme of Peacekeepers and the men who love them, this story uses the framing device/metaphor of a Peacekeeper field manual, specifically on field stripping a weapon. It's a wicked insight into the society and into why Aeryn reacts the way she does. The story is set just after the TalynJohn arc of season three, and starts during the episode "The Choice," in which Aeryn goes to a planet full of ghosts and mourns her dead lover, John Crichton. Reading this story, you understand why it was so difficult for Aeryn to then go back to Moya and John's double, a man who was John Crichton in every way but the one that mattered.
