Why this must be read:
Te's Kurt just slays me – there are few other writers around who come close to showing as much insight into his character, who can just get his voice so perfect. This fic didn't make me feel like I was reading about him from someone else's point of view; for me, at least, it's one of those rare gems where you can really hear, and feel, and be the character in question.
The writing itself is gorgeously, wonderfully evocative – the kind of stuff you can just lose yourself in, with an undercurrent of harsh reality humming just beneath the surface.
And, while the pairing is one that I'd never considered, I must say that, by the end, I bought it (at least within the boundaries of this particular story). Even if the pairing is not your cup of tea, however, I still highly recommend that you give it a shot; it's definitely more of a character study than a pairing-based fic, and is very much accessible to those who prefer gen over slash.

You're right, she nails Kurt's voice. I loved this part especially:
Sometimes, he is sadder here than he ever was in Germany. He thinks
that it has more to do with all the possibilities than
anything else. If there was beauty, and comfort, and food
