Why this must be read: Mmm...mpreg. Forget your prejudices, 'cause anything goes in lotrips (particularly when it comes to filling that ever-fertile and malleable vessel, Elijah Wood) and Nova's the sort of writer who can make the most deranged scenario seem plausible, moving, funny, sad and even prosaic, without actually losing the special tone that both exemplifies crack!fic and somehow stabilises and humanises it. Here, blooming Elijah is alluring and repellent in turn, and Dom is a delight as his baffled lover.

Even if Dom was the father - and this, he had to admit, was looking more and more likely by the day - there were still other factors to consider. What if it ("she," corrected Elijah, with conviction) was, you know, Not Quite Right? Unbeknownst to Elijah, Dom had furtively surfed medical websites detailing congenital birth defects, gazing with horror and pity at pictures of mono-eyed monsters with smashed-egg skulls. But the doctor had assured them there was really nothing to be worried about - other than the fact that the baby would have to be delivered by Caesarian section ("Thank fuck," noted Elijah, wryly). They followed up an email address he gave them and duly received a supportive reply from Eduardo and José in Mexico City, with a photo attachment of two weary-looking men clutching an incongruously blonde toddler. "You see?" said Elijah. "She'll be fine."

I agree with you totally. This is the best mpreg to date.

There's no dwelling on every symptom, Elijah is definitely not portrayed as 'female' -he's snarky, acidic and prickly. Dom is portrayed with brutal honesty- bewilderment, irrational fears, loss of sexdrive. This isn't heartsandflowers thank god. I like the way the relationship is presented here. Realistic, humorous in a crazy as hell situation.

Good rec. Thanks. I'd lost the url for this.
