Looking for the Enemy by Wallace (G)
Hi, folks. I'm up again as your X-Men movieverse driver for October.
Fandom: X-MEN MOVIEVERSE
Pairing: gen (Scott)
Author on LJ:
wal_lace
Author Website: Wallace's stories on ff.net
Why this must be read: The ending of X2 was a hard blow to all the characters who loved Jean, and there have been a number of excellent stories examining Scott's grief. This one stands out to me for its unflinching look at Scott's anger as well, after a loss he can't explain or forgive.
You are not in denial.
You wake up alone for the eighth day running, and there's no gentle touch on your mind. You go downstairs and brew coffee, and stop short of setting out a second mug. You run your circuits of the grounds alone and in silence, and for the eighth morning running you decide that you should get some kind of personal stereo to listen to as you exercise. You dress, guessing at colours, and stop off at the conservatory to check with Ororo that you don't look stupid. It only took you forty-eight hours to incorporate this last into your daily routine.
Jean is not here, and you have felt her absence with every minute of every day since she let herself die.
