Why this must be read:

Shattered was an amazing episode that triggered an outpouring of fic - most of them of the 'what if Janeway/Torres/Seven/Paris had been affected instead of Chakotay?' school. While there were some very enjoyable stories written with that premise, D'Alaire twisted the episode in another direction, managing to produce an AU that stayed beautifully within the episode. She gives us two decades of Voyager from Naomi Wildman's POV. Grim and funny and beautiful.
