Joyful is known for her sense of humor in her stories. However, this is not a funny story.
This very short story is set in the rift universe. Lex has been hurt...again. And Clark has saved him yet again. But the ending is not what you would expect.
The characterizations are beautiful. The situation is so well defined that there is practically a crispness to it that chills.
Every once in a while I want to read a story that rips my heart out. This is one of the best.
