Hidden in Plain Sight by UKTechGirl (PG-13)

Fandom: FARSCAPE
Title: Hidden in Plain Sight
Pairing: None, really
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author's Webpage Unknown

Why this must be read:

This story is one of my favorite secret kinks. Not going to tell that kink because it gives away the story but, needless to say, I re read this every so often because it's one of the few out there. That said, this is another post Fractures story, slow in it's action, but HUGELY suspenseful. It's John and Chiana at the end of their ropes, trying to figure out what's going on, whose close to him, and when they will strike.

The show did not go this route, which is probably a good thing because it would've killed the fans. This fic did take this route and it was exciting and jaw dropping and I always wished for a sequel because I wanted to know what happened afterward.

Read this one and get ready for that kick of an ending.

Just thought I'd point something out. It doesn't say anywhere what fandom this story's from. XD

WHOA.

Yeah, I'd say "kick of an ending" is right. Hold me!

Heh, you said this fic had one of your kinks and I immediately started looking for evil!DK. :p

And uh, yeah, thank God this show didn't go that route. Eeeep.

::sticks tongue out at you::

Dude. You spoiled me before I clicked the link!

Phooey.

But the fic rocked. ;-)

Wow, I forgot how great this story was. it's crazy that almost all Farscape AU never feels completely implausible to me--the shades of characterization on the show almost always lead me to "I can see how that could happen."

Ta for the rec:)

As an avid enough reader of crack_van lately to make the name scarily accurate, I confess to being dead chuffed at getting a rec. Glad to see Farscape is currently the fandom with the most archived recs (and that half of them are by Maayan, which is frankly as it should be).

So strange, though, going back to this after a few years. I noticed a bunch of stuff:

1) The opening page or so is AWFUL. Thank god it gets better.
2) You're right, it's a masterful work of suspense (ie it takes its sweet time to get anywhere) - except I remember thinking it was quite short at the time.
3) I possess an alarming tendency to re-cap 'relevant' episodes in this story, and while sometimes it works, sometimes it's just Basil Exposition.
4) I wrote this, as far as I recall, during an absurd hiatus between 'Fractures' and the final four of s3 - which might explain why I seem to think everyone else will know that episode scene-for-scene too. Not to mention 'The Choice', and 'Eat Me', and...

None of which is massively relevant to anyone else: just a few writerly thoughts. I like to think I could do some bits of this better now - but I don't think I could top the basic idea. Am still pretty fond of that. And yeah, the show was never going to go there - but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one to find it plausible, or intriguing, as a prospect.

Oh, and that email link is a dud. Sorry.

Cheers, UKTG
