Highlander/Sharpe (TV version) (NC-17)

Title: Lovers Keep Secrets (Chosen Men series), by Hellblazer
Pairing: Methos/Sharpe
Author on LJ: no idea
Author Website: ninemuses
Why this must be read:
Oh, come on -- it's Sharpe! It's Methos! Bark*bark*bark! The goodness is gravy.

This was my very first: first fanfic, first slash, and first Methos story, which I stumbled on completely by chance. Amazingly, it was sexy and engaging and sucked me down the rabbit hole leaving just my socks behind.

"Lovers Keep Secrets" is the short introductory story to the author's Chosen Men series, in which Sharpe is an Immortal (oh, perfect, perfect)with Issues and Methos is his old buddy from the wars. It's a bit buggy. As the series develops, this particular take on Methos, MacLeod, and Sharpe might not be to everyone's taste -- but you've got to give at least the first couple a shot.

Richard kicked him under the table with a heavy Doc Marten boot.

"I didn't know you were in Paris. I'd heard you gone to America," he accused softly, a mild slight in his voice.

"I came back. I knew you were here," he countered.

Richard reached across and turned up Methos' wrist, exposing the tattoo.

"I bet you did, you crafty bugger. Keeping tabs on me?"

Methos shrugged.

"Occasionally. Always fascinating reading."

Sharpe flashed his teeth in the dim pub.

"I try."

"You'll be going on to Spain then, as usual. Predictable, Richard."

"I manage my own affairs. I know how to keep me head down. You are in a right mood tonight, aren't you." He pushed the untouched beer towards his friend. "Only one cure for that I know of."

Methos' hand curved around the beer, lifting it up, considering it.

"That'd be wine women and song."

Richard just leant back and grinned.

ETA: Came across the author's website. I still don't know if she's on LJ.

This was my first take on Methos too - a beginning that made me prepared to seek out this previously unknown fandom. I agree with your take on it; the first few 'chapters' are a great, fun read, but it all goes a bit pear-shaped further along. Nice to be reminded (and you can never have too much Sharpe, really).

This was one the first fanfics I read, so obviously also the first slash, and the series may skirt a little close to the id vortex as it continues, but it also left me with the conviction that Sharpe was an immortal. Bernard Cornwell just hasn't got around to chronicling his adventures since Spain. *g*

Very nice. Some almost believable slash, I didn't know it was possible.
And it came up just as I was looking to read a Sharpe/Highlander crossover, too.
