Blake's 7/Deep Space 9 (PG)

Title: "Wholesale" by Altariel

Author Website: Great concept, but would it fly?
Why this must be read:

I've always thought that Elim Garak -- the sneaky, manipulative, frighteningly intelligent and bizarrely charming Cardassian tailor/spy of Deep Space 9 -- feels very much like a Blake's 7 character who somehow wandered into the Star Trek universe by mistake. It turns out, not really to my surprise, that he in fact makes a better B7 character than the actual B7 characters. [livejournal.com profile] altariel1 is incredibly good at writing Garak, and this story gives us an interesting professional's perspective on Our Protagonists' amateur revolutionary tactics, culminating in a wickedly brilliant AU twist.

My absolute favorite bit, though, is this:
'Well,' he said, crisply back to business, 'We've got Orac - that's our computer - trying to work out what brought you here.'

'Some sort of temporal or spatial anomaly?' I hazarded.

Blake frowned. 'Doesn't sound very likely,' he said.

'Where I come from,' I replied, 'It happens all the time.'

Wholesale

I think this is one of my two favourite crossovers ... & I don't just mean the fertile ground of B7/DS9 ;)

Yes. I know nowt about DS9 but even I can recognize what a beautiful job of dove-tailing was done.
