Why this must be read: By now, you may be starting to get the impression that BSG78 stories tend to be long. Very long. That's a pretty accurate impression, actually. HeidiM's work is no exception in this regard--she's probably best known for her long, dark, angsty stories. But that's not what I'm reccing today, because I thought it was time for a change of pace...
"Circumstances" is one of the funniest BSG78 stories I've read, but I didn't always think so. When I first came across it, many years ago, I was a newbie to slash and wouldn't have recognised a slash cliche if it bit me on the bum. Oh, how things have changed! Now I can spot a fanfic cliche at a thousand yards. And, furthermore, now I think this fic is *hilarious*.
When I tell you that the premise of the story is Starbuck putting his thinking cap on and coming up with a list of "Circumstances under which Apollo would have sex with me," you will understand why a good knowledge of improbable slash plots is essential to enjoying this fic. If you know your slash cliches well, then you'll likely snicker the entire time you're reading this.
