Smallville/Spiderman Movieverse Crossover (NC-17)

Title: Standing in the Common Spaces, by Jenn
Pairing: Lex/Peter
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] seperis
Author Website: Indulgence

Why this must be read: Great characterization--Jenn makes Peter Parker come alive as a photographer and all of the characters are believable in an AU story. The story doesn't follow linear time, but this is handled deftly. This has an excellent, integrating plot and a pairing that I'd never thought of before reading this. Time was taken with the minute details in this story, and it shines through in every page.

Hear, hear! I really liked that story when I read it before, so I'm glad you're recommending it here. =)

Oh. My. God. This was simply breathtaking. And I don't even *watch* Smallville. But I know enough about the concepts, and am familiar with the Superman and Spiderman mythos, to not be lost or anything. Thank god for that, too, because this was just incredible!

Must go send the author feedback now. And add this to my list of personal fic favorites. WowWowWow.

That's it, I've been converted!

Not to be repetitive... but Oh. My. God. Excuse me while my brain shorts out for a while.

Zzzzttzzztzttzzzttzzzzt.... THUNK! Ow. *slowly climbs back up into chair* Oops. Sorry, have regained control of motor functions now.

Anyhoo, just finished "Somewhere I Have Never Traveled" and the sequel. And, for starters, can I tell you just how evil it was to tell me the name was taken from my favorite poem EVER? *sighs dreamily* Cummings is the best, as is that poem. And as is that story. Wowsers.

I gotta admit though, reading a really good Smallville-based fic when the only experience I have with the Superman mythos, aside from seeing the movies once, like, back when they came out, was from that Lois and Clark show that was on ABC back around '96 or so? Highly weird. I kept seeing Teri Hatcher as Lois, which was okay and actually worked rather well. Especially her S1 portrayal of Lois, which was much more snarky and fun than in later seasons. But since Lex on L&C spent the majority of his time with rather lovely curly hair...? Well, let's just say it was an odd transition to make. Heh.

And just gotta say... Lex in these fics is positively delectible. Rrowr! Can I have one please? Man, so unfair. They should make pocket-sized Lex Luthors to order or something. Soooo much better that a giga-pet. *smirks* My very own snarky, sexy meglomaniac. Mmmmmm.

But yes, marvelous fic. Amazing, stupendous and all that. Makes me wanna join the Smallville fandom without having ever seen an episode.

Well, scratch that, I did see the pilot because it aired a week earlier than Roswell (which I'd already been watching for two years and couldn't bring my self to just give up, though with how the third season played out, I reallyreally should have) but that's all. Except for the occasional minute or two here and there over the years.

But, yeah, anyways.

God, but that was an amazing fic. So, yes. Sign me up as an honorary Smallville fan, would you? And please feel free to throw any good recs my way. But remember, I'm a newbie who doesn't watch the show, so be gentle. ;)

Okay. Done gushing now. Must go write that author feedback.

I friended you back. :)

And as for what kinds of fic I like, well, AUs are a personal favorite. Happy and fluffy is nice, but so is angsty and tragic. Humor is good, as is darkfic. Basically? Just so long as it's well written and, as you said, gooood. ;)

I am definitely a sucker for a good romance, though. Doesn't have to be the only thing going on in the story. It could be the b-plot and have some huge adventure or mystery or something as the a-plot, that's fine. But good, well written romance? That'll hook me every time.

Oh, and slash is always yummy. *g* Besides, after reading "Somewhere I Have..." and "Gladly Beyond" and enjoying them so much, I think CLex has totally spoiled me. I couldn't see the boys with anybody else now!

Oh, and fun news! One of my RL friends is getting a copy of S1 Smallville for Christmas this year! Which means I'll get to see it!

*wanders off to read "Sleep While I Drive" now* :)

Finished "Sleep While I Drive" because it was far too addicting and I couldn't stop reading it. Loved it to pieces and then some. Such a great last line, too. :)

Now I have to read more.... only I can't tonight. Work. Damnit. RL sucks. :(
