Why this must be read:
This is one of my all-time favorite J/C stories. Set early in the voyage and told from B'Elanna's POV, Janeway and the crew must deal with the aftermath of a transporter accident. The imagery and description are beautiful and moving, and the subtle character observations are spot-on. Even though J/C is the focus, the evolving friendship between Janeway and B'Elanna is wonderfully depicted as well. This story is a keeper; if you've never read it before, know that this is one you will keep coming back to time and again because it's just that good.
