Why this must be read:
I'll never ever get tired of reading Djinn's fic. Few writers can consistently get me to read pairing I've never been interested in before (such as her Spock/Chapel stories) and fewer still can convert me to liking a paiiring based on the power of their work but Djinn managed it quite soundly with Kirk/Chapel. One of my favorite things about her work is the fact that she doesn't just focus on the five year mission, she plays with a lot of time periods from the Enterprise's mission and one of her favorites seems to be the Lost Years and immediately following the first movie. It's one of the things I love about her work and even more so because of the characterizations. This is a Jim and Christine that are more than caricatures. They're people and you get a sense of their lives through the settings and words Djinn uses. This is a prime example of that. In fact, I'd encourage you to read all of Djinn's trek fic, it's more than worth your time.
