Strangers' Attraction by Keiko Kirin (R/NC-17)
Fandom: THE PERSUADERS!
Pairing: Lord Brett Sinclair/Danny Wilde

Why this must be read:
One of the great things about The Persuaders! is watching the main duo's relationship develop. How did two proud, independent bachelors come to dismantle the walls they've depended on for decades in favour of a fort for two? In a slash reading, how did they take that first risk? It could have been easy and playful, drunk and disorderly, wild and romantic. Or it could have happened like this: a bit dark, a bit dirty, and a bit too soon.
This episode tag to "Angie, Angie" comes at a time when Danny and Brett's growing rapport is still heavily laced with caution and mutual testing, and further strained by recent events that have left Danny angry and hurt and Brett... fascinated. It's a car crash that heads down a rabbit hole with light at the end of the tunnel, and it's a reading of the characters that's both extremely romantic and convincingly carnal.
Danny lifted his glass and edged closer.
"So, you're going to stay and get shloshed with me, instead of going out on the town to ravish the local talent?" Though he playfully clinked his glass against Brett's, there was something cold in his voice. "Guess you deserve a medal. Sacrifice in the line of duty."
